Save the Cabin!
This is a letter that was distributed to Girl Scout Leaders and friends of Girl Scouts on August 10, 2012.
Dear Friends of Girl Scouts,
"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." Margaret Meade
We have some very exciting news! The Town of Eastchester has submitted a new lease agreement that satisfies all our concerns. Girl Scouts will continue to maintain and use the Girl Scout Cabin, Girl Scouts will control the calendar and Girl Scouts will continue to let town groups use the cabin as they have in the past.
We would like to thank you all. The outpouring of support from the entire community has been overwhelming and very much appreciated.
We would like to especially thank Mayor Mary Marvin of Bronxville, Mayor Steve Ecklond of Tuckahoe and State Assemblywoman Amy Paulin. These three people were willing to listen to our concerns and offer their help to make this new lease happen.
We would also like to thank all the veterans and senior citizens who rallied behind us. Your support meant so much. Thanks to all our neighboring Girl Scout communities who offered their help.
Thank you to everyone who sent letters, made phone calls and signed petitions on our behalf. Without all of your help, we don’t believe we would have this successful outcome.
As we move forward, the Girl Scouts of Tuckahoe/Eastchester and Bronxville are committed to making a difference in our communities. We plan to continue working with many of the groups that we have helped in the past and we hope to help many new friends that we have made over the past 3 weeks.
Thank you all again!
